Before the first freeze

  • Install four matching winter tires. Some insurers discount the policy when you do.
  • Test the battery. A weak battery is a common winter claim that is not an accident benefit.
  • Keep a scraper, blanket, and booster cables in the car.
  • Tell your broker if you garage the vehicle for the season. The rating may change.
